District 6 Goodwill Committee is Established! What: Committee for District 6 members in good standing who have contributed to the enjoyment of bridge throughout our district over the years Who: The initial base of the District 6 Goodwill Committee consists of the current District 6 members of the ACBL Goodwill Committee. Membership will be automatically augmented annually by new members of the ACBL Goodwill Committee as appointed by the District Six Director (a minimum of two per year). In addition, and more importantly, membership will also be augmented annually by the constituent units of the District. How: Each unit may appoint one new member annually. In addition, those units with memberships exceeding 1000 may appoint a second new member annually. Each unit is encouraged to appoint at least one individual every year but is not required to do so. The process adopted for the selection of the appointed individuals is solely the responsibility of each unit. After the inaugural year, induction into the District 6 Goodwill Committee will occur annually at the District Six Annual Meeting. To encourage the newly appointed members to attend their induction ceremony, units are requested to notify the District Secretary (currently Barbara Moomy, bmoomy@cox.net) of such appointments by May 1st of each year. This will allow time to prepare and mail written invitations. Qualifications for nomination shall include: individuals who go out of their way to practice active ethics; whose conduct both at the bridge table and away from the bridge table is commendable; who promote bridge as an activity among new players, at club and unit games, and at tournaments and who contribute to a playing environment at these venues that is conducive to fun and learning; who promote bridge for Juniors; and who promote bridge for the handicapped. If you know someone who would be a great candid ate for induction into the District 6 Goodwill Committee, tell your Unit President now!! |
