Barbara Doran called the meeting to order at 7:08 P.M.

She welcomed everyone and introduced the officers of the WBL.

She pointed out the discrepancy on the ballot and stated that both she and Secretary Barbara Shaw were incumbents. She then turned the floor over to Peter Boyd, Election Chairman, who conducted the annual elections.

Peter Boyd informed the membership that each officer is elected for a one year term and that the office of President can be held by the same person for no more than three consecutive years. Barbara Doran is running for her third term as President.

Barbara Doran is running for her third term as President. Peter asked for other nominations from the floor. Hearing none, Michael Carroad moved and Bill Hacker seconded that the nominations be closed. Barbara Doran was elected unanimously.

Peter then announced that Don Berman, Fred King and Dave Ruderman will be completing their 2 year terms on the board. There are three two year positions open for election. We have five men seeking these three positions. Peter then asked for any additional nominations from the floor. Hearing none, Rae Dethelefsen moved and Eric Landau seconded that the nominations be closed. Each man was allowed to make a two minute speech. They did so in this order: Wei Bao, Steve Forsythe, Lee Jensen, Ben Laden, and Jason Meyer. We then took a five minute break while people got their ballots and voted.

Barbara Doran then reconvened the meeting. Rae Dethlefsen moved and Donna Rogall seconded that we dispense with the reading of the minutes.

Steve Robinson then presented his treasurer's report. He briefly stated that we lost abut $3700 last year because of the purchase of the duplicating machine and printing of the Directory. We also donated $10,000.00 to the Nationals. Jim Allen moved and Ben Laden seconded that we accept the Treasurer's report as presented. It was approved unanimously.

Barbara Doran then presented the annual awards to the Aces in Clubs winners and the Mini- McKinney winners. The list of the winners is attached to the minutes.

Barbara then asked if there was any new business. At that time Donna Rogall presented a motion before the membership that all Sunday two session games at the sectionals start at noon. Diane Walker seconded the motion. Discussion followed. It was suggested that this was an issue to be discussed at the board meeting. Jim Allen moved to table the discussion. Bob Klein seconded the motion. A straw vote was taken to get a general idea as to the membership's feeling. About 1/3 of the membership seemed to be in favor of the change but more than 1/2 expressed the desire to keep the starting time at 11:00 A.M. President Doran indicated that the issue would be tabled until the next annual meeting but promised that the board would not wait that long to make a decision. This issue will be discussed at the next board meeting. Dave Ruderman suggested that he could conduct a survey if necessary.

Barbara Doran then asked if there was any old business. Being told there was none she then turned the meeting over to Barbara Shaw who recognized and thanked the three main organizers of our dinners. Barbara especially thanked Nadine Wood, Millard Nachtway and Kitty Gottfried for the hours and days of hard work and preparation not only for this banquet, but also for the Christmas Party, the hospitality at the Regionals, and the upcoming Nationals. Barbara Doran then thanked several people who helped the main organizers with this banquet and election.

President Doran then turned the floor over to Vice-President Kathy Kruskal. Kathy presented to five of our members awards from St. Elizabeth's Bridge Group. She recognized Steve Czecka as the main organizer and participant in their bridge group. In his thank you speech he asked that any one who wishes to play bridge the first Monday of each month at St. Elizabeth's is welcome. They really appreciate our participation and without us they would have no bridge group.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 P.M.

Respectfully submitted,

Barbara Shaw, Recording Secretary
