WBL Annual Meeting
May 11, 2003
Director Michael Carroad introduced retiring President Barbara Doran. She called the meeting to order at 7:05 P.M.
The minutes were approved.
Steve Robinson presented the yearly Treasurer's report as well as the current monthly report. Both reports were approved.
President Doran introduced former President Jim Allen who was to conduct the election of new officers. The election committee consisted of Francis Burke, Alice Miller and Audrey Marback.
Jim Allen announced that Dick Wegman has been nominated for President. He asked if there were any nominations from the floor. Hearing none, Earl Glickstein moved and Barbara Summers seconded that the nominations cease. Dick Wegman was elected unanimously.
Mr. Allen then said that Fred King was nominated for Vice President. He asked for any nominations from the floor. Hearing none, Earl Glickstein moved and Rae Dethlefsen seconded that the nominations cease. Fred King was elected unanimously.
Jim then announced that Barbara Shaw has been nominated for Secretary. He asked for any nominations from the floor. Hearing none, Barbara Summers moved and Earl Glickstein seconded that the nominations cease. Barbara Shaw was elected unanimously.
Steve Robinson was then nominated for Treasurer. Jim Allen asked for nominations from the floor. Hearing none, Earl Glickstein moved and Barbara Summers seconded that the nominations cease. Steve Robinson was elected unanimously.
Jim Allen then announced that there were three positions open on the Board. Nominees were Don Berman, Steve Forsythe and Ron Zucker. He then asked for nominations from the floor. Arnie Frankel nominated John Adams and Clyde Kruskal. Both men declined the nomination. Earl Glickstein moved and Barbara Summers seconded that nominations cease. The three nominees were elected unanimously.
Jim announced that Barbara Doran will remain on the board for one year as the Past President.
Barbara then turned the floor over to the new President Dick Wegman. Dick recognized Barbara Doran the outgoing President for her outstanding work on the board for the three years in which she was President and presented her with a parting gift. He also told the membership that he hopes to build up the membership and number of players participating in our Unit games and our Sectionals. He also hopes to develop a Washington Area interscholastic competition between the High Schools.
Barbara Doran then presented the yearly awards. The Tubbs Award was presented to Charity Sack, The Cohen Award went to Ellen Cherniavsky, The Machlin Award went to Rosemary Marks and the Charles Lovenberg Award was presented to Fred Steinberg.
She then presented the Mini-McKinney Awards. The list of winners is attached to the minutes.
The President's Awards, presented each year to members who make a significant contribution to the success of the WBL were presented to Leslie Shafer, Alice Wegman and Lee Biggs.
She announced that long time tournament Chairman, Lee Jensen, was retiring from the Board. She presented him with a special gift.
The meeting was adjourned a 7:30 P.M.
