presented by Treasurer Steve Robinson, and approved by the membership.
Fred turned the meeting over
to Jim Allen, Election Chair, who conducted the election of unit officers and
directors. Dick Wegman moved (Barbara Doran seconded) that the policy of open
one-year terms for Unit Directors going to the lowest vote getter(s) be
suspended as Linda Marshall had volunteered to take the open one year term. The
motion was approved. As no position was opposed, both slates were elected by
acclamation. The new officers are:
President Fred King, Vice President Don Berman, Secretary Richard Ferrin and
Treasurer Steve Robinson. The new Unit Directors are: Ellen Rosenthal, Clyde
Kruskal, Carole Banks and Linda Marshall (one-year term). Jim turned the
meeting back to Fred.
Fred gave thanks to the many volunteers who
make the WBL run so smoothly. He made special mention of the fantastic
hospitality provided by Nadine Wood and Kitty Gottfried, the tireless work of
the directing staff headed by Ted Ying, the hard work of the caddies, with a
special mention for Alan Crank for his work setting up the playing area and
duplicating the boards, the wonderful work Steve and Sandy Forsythe do with our
new players, the efforts of Jim Geist in helping with set up and tear down, Lee
Jensen for the repair and maintenance of the duplicating machine and the
Barbara Doran for her work on the Partnership Desk and Guaranteed Partner
program. He then presented the President’s Award for Exceptional Service to the
WBL to Barbara Shaw for the many and varied jobs she has taken on during the
year, many on her own initiative.
Fred then presented the
Mini-McKenny and Ace of Clubs awards, assisted by Charity Sack.
Jim Storms moved (Fred
Steinberg seconded) to adjourn the meeting. The motion was approved and the
meeting was adjourned at 7:18.
